Each year the Rhode Island Association of School Principals selects one member as our Secondary Principal of the Year.  Therefore, at this time, we ask that you give consideration to nominating someone who exemplifies the characteristics of an outstanding secondary principal; someone who unselfishly works to build and maintain a school culture that promotes high student achievement.

All nominees must meet the following criteria:

RIASP member for three (3) years

Be a practicing RI Middle School or High School Principal

Principal for three (3) or more complete years consecutively in one school

Letters of nomination may be emailed to Sherry at sarliapuhacz@riasp.org.  The one to two page letter of nomination should reference the candidates leadership capacity, and at least one particular accomplishment.

Once nominated, we (RIASP) will contact your nominee and forward the application packet to them.  The application packet is quite comprehensive, so it is advantageous to nominate a candidate in timely fashion.

A RIASP selection committee will review all completed nomination packets.  At least two (2) finalists shall then be identified.  For validation purposes, the selection committee will then conduct school visits, and shall ultimately select the 2018 Rhode Island Secondary Principal of the Year.

Finally, if you are aware of an outstanding Secondary Principal, please do not hesitate to nominate them.  The sooner the better.  The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday,     January 12, 2018.  Again, send letters of nomination to Sherry at sarliapuhacz@riasp.org.

    Yours truly,

    Donald Rebello
