Public Schools Week, which will be held the week of Feb 24th, 2020 #PublicSchoolProud

AASA is a proud founder of Public Schools Week, national celebration of the great things happening every day in public schools–and the potential for greater things. Public Schools Week, which will be held the week of Feb 24th, 2020 is a designated week for administrators, teachers, specialists, teacher educators, parents and school board members to join forces in celebrating the achievements our public schools are making and honoring the significant contributions and accomplishments public school educators and education advocates bring every day to our public schools and their communities.

Each year a bipartisan congressional resolution is introduced that speaks to the importance of public schools and the need for additional and equitable investments in education. Last year, three states issued Public Schools Week resolutions modeled after the federal resolution that were signed by their Governors. We are hopeful that with your help more states will have resolutions passed/enacted in 2020. We believe it's critical to broaden the positive message about public schools beyond Washington, D.C. and we have found that it's helpful to have legislators at all levels spend time acknowledging the hard work and success happening in our schools.

The text of the 2020 federal resolution can be found here. Click here to see how one state modified the federal resolution and used it to mark Public Schools Week in their state.
