Session Two – Tuesday June 25, 2019

 

1.       Update on General Assembly legislation highlighting whatever ed reform measures are passed.

2.       Considerations when putting together a MOA with a Town regarding SROs – this will include a recent agreement from a RI district.     

3. Meeting the requirements of the Safe School Act - Statewide Bullying  Policy (200-RICR-30-10-2)

Session Three – June 26, 2019

Policy and Protocols for release of videos under FERPA and sharing video streaming with police - we can include a video sharing agreement we have done recently and develop a FERPA compliant protocol around releasing video information to parents/police in different types of circumstances.

1.)    Review of the statutes involved.

2.)    Review of the cases decided (this would be focused on the Cumberland case).

3.)    Review of the Advocacy viewpoint of the issue

4.)    Review of the RIDE “guidance” advisory

5.)    Review sample policies which seem to comply with the current law and field questions (many of which should have surfaced from the commissioner’s most recent weekend update).  Please submit your local policy/procedure along with questions which we can provide to the panel prior to the session.
